By SANFORD LEIKIN AND SAMUEL P. BESSMAN D ISODIUM ETHYLEXEDIAMINE TETRAACETATE (EDTA) has beets known for some time to prolong coagulation in vitro.’3 During the course of treatment of seven patiemits for lead ititoxication with disodium calcium EDTA, we noted mio hemorrhagic mamiifestations.4’ However, Wishimisky6 described hypoprothrombimsemia appearing its a patiemit treated with disodium calcium EDTA for hemochromatosis. Recemitly Dudley et al.7 reported remial hemorrhage at autopsy of two patients with hypercalcemia treated with disodium EDTA.
